food for thought

this little cafe resturant was hard to miss along the row of printing shops at north bridge centre. with floor to ceiling glass panels, i immediately walked in, drawn by the simple home style yet with a tinge of fun feel of the place. with all the cakes named after the baker aunty behind each one (think aunty shi's old fashioned red velvet cake and aunty sandra's mango mousse cake), i stood in front of the cake display thinking maybe i should just get a slice of everything!

food for thought's staff were really warm and helpful, all wearing funky fun hats to celebrate halloween, and enthusiastically gave me a quick run down on all the yummy descriptions of all their desserts. i decided on three cupcakes (the nutella, vanilla and blueberry crumble), a banana maltesers cake slice and the durian mousse cake for pak law. the blueberry crumble was the best, with it being nice and moist, and filled with nice plump blueberries and lots of crumble coating the top....beautiful! the nutella and vanilla one were average and i guess it could be because this girl's been spoiled with the guru of all guru nutella cupcakes from toast. the cakes were average as well...although pak law did quite enjoy the light durian mousse, i would still give kudos to the creativeness and effort put in to personalise each and every cake with something different.

aside from desserts, food for thought has quite an extensive range of foods a
s well. with the menu scrawled old school style on blackboards mounted on the walls all over, i'll bet the experience dining there would be like eating right in the kitchen of an american cafe. this girl will definitely be back soon, g in tow of course, to sample some of their yummy sounding brekkies *grin*!
