of mojitos and other madness: revision!

keeping in tune with the recent hawker rocker roll that i am on, i thought it would be nice to do a quick revision post on some earlier modules of the series...in particular module 102 and 105. these are two of my fave places and actually, the only places that i head to for my peanut pancake and curry peng fixes *grin*!

armed with my lumix and a growling tummy, i literally jumped out of the car and into the queue at the tanglin halt market, as i knew time was ticking and judging by the queue already snaking in front of the peanut pancake stall, i had to get my spot in there before they ran out! i did stand in line for a bit but it was all good as just watching the aunty and uncle work behind the counter was a treat in itself. pity i didn't have my 14-42mm lens on, else i think i would have managed to capture the entire makings of this awesome pancake. in any case, i do hope the single shot does reflect the warm fluffy pancake, overflowing with freshly roasted peanuts. a touch of sugar and hint of butter between the pancake and the nuts is all there is...simple but truly, truly fantastic.

kitchener road's lau di fang scissor cut curry peng is still by far the best that i've had. its been a good three years since i wrote, rather raved, about the place and i have yet to find a place that can rival lau di fang. i've had it several times more of course since 2007, but i decided to do the revision because this time, we actually did a take away from the place. i was really quite surprised that the meal was still good eaten at home and the simple dishes, from the chicken curry to the braised pork and beautiful secret four combination gravy to top it all off, still really hit the spot. this is truly the place to head to for some home cooked comfort food. and i guarantee satisfaction regardless of whether you dig in at the corner kopi tiam or take it and enjoy it in the comfort of your home.
