hawker rocker 105

hidden in a sleepy part of commonwealth is a little row of hawker stalls that is home to what i would like to think is pretty much the best peanut pancake in singapore! i do have to qualify that there exists two kinds of peanut pancakes (at least in my book!)...the thin crispy ones, like that at the penang hawker fare, and the slightly more traditional doughy ones...and the one at the tanglin halt market ranks high on my list for making quite a kick ass traditional pancake.

run by a husband and wife team, they apparently start work everyday (except thursdays!) at 3 in the morning getting the yummy pancake mix ready and roasting their peanuts. judging by the queue every d
ay, i would really agree with makansutra's rating of die die must try! every single piece is served hot and filled to the brim with freshly roasted peanuts with bit of sugar mixed in. it does get a bit messy while eating but oh....it is so good. not too doughy with just the right mix of sweet, salty and crunch of the peanuts, this is one awesome way to start the day! don't forget to wash it all down with teh tarik from the malay stall near by (called yunos i think!).

more piccies here!
