okay...to be really honest, the paradise inn folder has been filed under the 'maybe' category on my trusty macbook, with no real plans to actually post something up, especially given the growing number of folders under my 'to write' category! but it's gotten a humongous bump up because of a recent paradise inn review by chubby hubby...and i thought i'd (shamelessly) jump on the paradise inn bandwagon and share my experience.
the pork trotter vermicelli was definitely a dish that stood out in paradise inn's menu and pretty much the main reason g and i decided to have sunday lunch last week at paradise group's new outlet at east point mall. the dish literally was braised pork trotter tossed with egg noodles, garnished with bits of mushroom and veggie. i do agree with chubby hubby that the pork trotters were braised quite nicely, resulting in moist and tender chunks of meat....it was definitely fatty, making the dish quite lemak and a tad too oily, at least in my book. it might be chubby hubby's definition of a fabulous, fatty fantasy in a bowl but for me, its not going to be one thing i'll head back to paradise inn for.
as for the rest of the dishes we had, again, i disagree with chubby hubby who rated the dishes as pretty good. we had the kong ba bao and winter melon soup, both of which were well, nothing much to shout about. g thinks the westlake baos are way way better and we've definitely had double boiled soups better (and cheaper!) at many other places.
i do agree the service is somewhat lacking and might consider chubby hubby's point that the experience (maybe including the food) is different at different outlets, given that the outlet we visited just opened the week before, so maybe i'll venture back into paradise inn one day...but till then, i give the place two scoopies! (sorry chubby hubby!)
