only As at b3!

this post is one that will go down in mojito's history because it is one of the very few posts that i punch out just hours (read within twenty four hours!) after being at the place....and yes, it is purely driven by the excitement, satisfaction and the need to just shout it out to the whole world that i've just experienced a gastrorgasm! the place? burger bench and bar or better known as b3.

with light wood furniture, mosaic tiled walls and table tops and a menu blackboard, the vibe is clean, classic and no fuss. chef willin (from wild rocket fame) definitely has got the formula right, keeping everything simple and allowing the focus to be on the food. and focus there should be, as the burgers at b3 are without a doubt, the best burgers i have had in a long long time. spinning off the success of relish, b3 serves equally good and freshly made burgers but at fast food joint prices. yup...you heard right. for eight bucks, you will get fresh homemade ground beef patties (think juicy, medium rare mince), airflown tomatoes, fresh crisp veggies and sweet onions, all sandwiched between freshly baked sesame seed buns. i mean, this is how burgers should be...none of that processed, frozen, preservative loaded crap for me...yes, i'm taking a 'burger vow' and committing to say no to the burgers served up at all fast food joints, no matter how much people claim to say that they are 'lovin it' or promise that 'it will get messy'.

with everything sounding fantastic (from classic cheeseburgers with caramelised onions to japanese curry curry chicken katsu burgers), deciding which one to have proved to be really hard. as g accurately put it, we both wish we had more tummy space just so that we could have more than just one burger! i had the sarawak black pepper beef burger which i highly recommend - think rich ground black pepper sauce, akin to that eng seng the crab nazi place serves up in its  famous pepper crab dish, smothered over the juicy pattie. perfectly balanced with just the right hint of spice, saltyness of the meat and crisp sweet veggies, this burger was in one word...yum! g had the mushroom beef burger (upsized with an additional beef pattie!)  and was equally satisfied with his choice given the speed at which he polished off the burger, mopping up every single drip that fell off the burger!

in addition to the kick ass burgers, everyone MUST have a taste of b3's gourmet dark chocolate soft serve ice cream. at only three buckaroos, this ice cream is to die for. think valrhona type cocoa rich, soft smooth ice cream.....

....ultimate, truly ultimate comfort food!

to steal the quote from b3, ' do yourself a favor, eat real food'....head on over to burger bench and bar and i guarantee you, you will leave the place mentally making arrangements to head back for more!
