sunday *scape with the fire fight

thirteen june, twenty-ten marks a closing of a chapter and opening of a new one for one of my favorite local band - the fire fight. having been playing together for the past five or so years and with one very fantastic album under their belt, they are calling a hiatus for now as they head their separate ways in pursuit of studies. the gig, aptly called 'so long for now' was the first close up performance for me with the fire fight and i was quite blown away.

held at the new *scape warehouse, the set was extremely intimate with the audience seated all the way up front, the guys in casual plaid shirts and vintage furniture framing the stage. for those who have not yet heard, the fire fight delivers a very unique brand of indie rock; influenced greatly from the 90’s emo-rock sound and brit rock with a touch of modern expression. they aren't your pop-py bounce around type nor hard edge rock type band either.....they are well, part rock, part alternative and i guess that's what pulls them apart from the rest of the crowd. their music is very strong and is arranged and written beautifully. having seen them live, i really have to say that these bunch are extremely talented and are all very very strong with their instruments. its a pity that they won't be around for a bit but i'm sure the music will definitely keep them together and we'll  be hearing from them again really soon.

i know my post here will not give enough credit to the group so i'm just gonna let you guys watch and listen to them. it was a fantastic gig and had a really nice personal touch with friends like saiful from the great spy experiement, matt from the vacant affair and amanda ling jamming together, making the sunday afternoon feel like one fun jam session.

i present you, so long from now -  the fire fight.
