a super quick post to update all that i have not forgotten about the fantastic fare whipped up by our local hawkers! dug up from my 'to write!' folder, glory popiah stood out as the priority must write place just because they are, in my book (and makansutra's too!) probably the best nonya styled popiah on the island. think freshly stewed turnips and carrots with dried shrimps in stock, topped with a generous sprinkling of fragrant crushed peanuts, shredded eggs, succulent prawns, crispy garlic, fresh lettuce, classic dark sauce and awesome chilli…all wrapped up in paper thin yet eggie spring roll skin. extremely yummy from the first bite, and yes the dripping of the stock and sauces are part of the fun! these are so good that i strongly advise buying two just because i know you would want to enjoy the satisfying nonya flavors for a little bit longer!
