sad to say though that they no longer make the sausage rolls or the swiss rolls due to busy schedules...but the good news is, the classic kaya bun with the thick slab of butter and half boiled eggs are still as good as this girl remembers. sweet and savoury all at the same time, this girl believes that it has to be chin mee chin that gave birth to the current phenomenon of kaya buns! and don't get me started on the half boiled eggs...really don't know how they do it every single time because its like cooked for the perfect amount of time (7 minutes is the resident guestimate) such that there is not over cooked or raw bits left in the egg!
definitely worth a visit and the drive if you stay in other parts of town, for no one has quite been able to beat chin mee chin's food nor its step back in time vibe in this girl's book!

Hi Lydia,
For me, Chin Mee Chin is definitely the sentimental breakfast place. I went there on numerous occasions with Uncle Dennis and Aunty Cherry the summer I worked in Merrill Lynch, Singapore. Can't believe that was more than 12 years ago! Anyhow, they do indeed have the best half boiled eggs, and the toast with kaya is among the best.
Cheers
Marc
