this girl is really quite behind with posting lately and had great plans to try to get up to speed with the madness but decided to heck the chronological updates and jump straight into the outstanding lamb feast at one six b over the past 3 days.
yup...it was lamb for dinner over the past 3 days. admittedly very stuffed and really in need of exercise (the plan is to detox and hit the treadmill next week), but more importantly, happy that the past 3 meals were indeed out of this world! pak law lugged back the freshest and choicest racks of lamb (8 in total!) all the way from perth, together with one kilos worth of jamon ham, much to the delight of the regulars of one six b. the first meal was in great anticipation, for pak law raved about the meat he got off one of the corner delis in perth. and it really did not disappoint. what can i say...with jamon ham on melon as appetizers, refreshing sesame dressed rocket salad, and pink, juicy tender lamb chops, this was a perfect reward to a hard week. the lamb was really nothing like what i have tasted before, really tender and lean, and rich with awesome flavors (pak law only marinated it with a touch of garlic mustard!), such that all that was required was a dollop of mint jelly.
with the protein quota for the day met, this girl was really looking forward to meeting her sugar quota with full awareness that auntie ta brought homemade meringues. the dessert is what i would like to call a reverse pavlova, with more of the meringue, less cream and topped with sweet fruit. the meringues were outstanding, crispy on the outside with a hint of vanilla and caramel and moist with the melt in your mouth insides. truly heavenly!
dinner two was oso buco. pak law's made oso buco before but this time around, i think the meat really brought the dish up several notches! literally falling off the bone, the meat was extremely tender and even the bone marrow was able to be sucked out and enjoyed! it didn't matter whether it was enjoyed with yummy foccacias or eaten with rice and sambal pernakan style, it was undoubtedly one kickass oso buco!
by the time it came to dinner three, this girl, to be honest, wasn't quite sure if she had been 'lambed out'....but after tucking into yet another round of awesome lamb chops, on the contrary, this girl has decided that between a steak and a lamb chop, the choice will be the tender chops. pak law made this round of lamb slightly more well done...but the meat was still as succulent and flavorful as the first time around. coupled with refreshing salsa this time in addition to the jamon ham and melon, the meal once again proved to be ultimately satisfying *grin*. dessert, as always, complimented the meal outstandingly, with auntie ta trying her hand at a tiramisu with a lemoncello twist. perfectly refreshing in my opinion, with lightly whipped mascarpone cheese laced with that tangy lemon flavor, and covering sugar coated sponge fingers.... ahhh!

Hi Lydia,
These are great looking lamb dishes... Yum. It also has been ages since I last had pavlova!
My compliments to the chefs.
