hawker rocker 106

walk in to any hawker centre or food court and this girl will bet you that there will be at least one...if not two stalls within with white and roasted chickens hanging in their stall windows. the humble chicken rice has become so much a part of a singaporean's life that i am sure everyone has their own favorite stalls to rave about. i am actually not big on chicken rice, associating it a lot more with the more 'unhealthy' side of my things to eat list but yes, like everyone, this girl does indulge every now and again so this post is to all who must have their bi-weekly or weekly dose of the yummy rice.

you may or may not agree with my choices but sin kee chicken rice stall is my favourite stall to head to for a good and worthy dose of those chicken rice calories *grin*

pretty much the anchor tenant over on the second floor of the margaret drive food center, sin kee's chicken rice has definitely established quite a following, with almost (if not all actually!) all the tables up on level 2 covered with plates of freshly cooked chicken, fragrant rice and sauce dishes filled with kick ass garlic chilli sauce, superior black sweet sauce and freshly grated ginger sauce. the secret to the stall's success, i think, is pretty much the fact that they use a bit of their power chicken stock in everything they cook, from the rice to the chilli, creating some what of a continuity and flow as you dig into the tender meat and reach for the freshly stir fried beansprouts or hongkong vegetables. any and every cut of the chicken was cooked just right, with the marinate infused into every single piece of meat, keeping each piece nice and moist. the rice was nice and fluffy and exceptional fragrant and to top it all off, sin kee makes one solid ginger and chilli sauce. a definite no waste of calories here! i guarantee you will leave margaret drive one happy and satisfied camper!
