it was the last weekend before dia left for australia and actually, before all of us took turns to be away, so pak law decided to whip up one of the good old favorites for the crowd at one six b. the meal of choice was the simple but very satisfying spanish paella. cooked fresh and from scratch, the dish was as always, a huge hit. we even forgave pak law for being blur and using the chinese lap cheong instead of the spicy Italian sausages! of course, the dish would have been even better with the sausages but it was all good…we were happy just helping ourselves to prawn after prawn, mussel after mussel *grin*
not forgetting that pak law decided to experiment with scallops as well, putting together a simple yet refreshing scallop salad to kick start the meal. the scallops were sweet , and although they shrunk during cooking, i would give an A for innovation and creativity just for getting the scallops cooked just right and choosing a tangy salad dressing, resulting in a nice sweet sour flavour to the appetizer.

dessert was the other highlight, with auntie ta preparing her out of this world pavlova…this time was kinda cool because she whipped up the cream right before serving up the dessert, allowing all of us to have a first hand view of how it was all put together. It was fun watching her work, right down to the dressing up of the dessert with fresh strawberries and blueberries and the important finishing touch of drizzling of the icing sugar.
the piccies came up fantastic so click over and have a look….i’ll bet you’ll want some pavlova right away!
